Kyorugi athlete inspection

Every competitor is inspected before they spar. Come ready, with your own equipment, so your division starts on time.

• Glasses Must be removed. Sport-approved rubber goggles or a cadet face shield are permitted.
• Helmet Provided, for divisions with head contact only.
• Long hair Must be tied up and fit reasonably under the helmet.
• Mouthguard Must be clear or white. Athletes with bottom braces must wear a bottom guard.
• Piercings Must all be removed.
• Jewellery Must be removed (rings, necklaces, watches and all).
• Uniform Must be white, and must not include national team insignia.
• Arm guards Must be worn under the uniform.
• Groin guard Must be worn, under the uniform.
• Gloves Must be worn in all divisions (WT style, individual finger).
• Shin guards Must be worn, under the uniform.
• Bracing Neoprene only. No rigid supports (knee, ankle and all).
• eSocks Daedo Gen2. Not provided: bring your own.
• Nails Fingernails and toenails must be trimmed. Coloured varnish will not be enforced.

Why it matters

• Gloves protect an opponent's face and eyes from an errant punch.
• White uniforms and clear or white mouthguards help referees see blood.
• Tying up hair and removing jewellery prevents serious injuries like scalping, gouging and de-gloving.
• Saving team insignia for higher-level events prevents intimidation.
